Maharaja Agrasen was a legendary Indian king who is credited with the establishment of Agroha ,a kingdom of traders in North India He is known for his compassion in refusing to slaughter animals in yajnas. The Government of India issued a postage stamp in honor of Maharaja Agrasen in 1976.

Dr. Nand Kishore Garg (Founder & Chief Advisor-MATES, Chancellor-Maharaja Agrasen University,Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, Three Times MLA-Delhi Vidhan Sabha) has been a significant source of inspiration and motivation for achieving the aims and goals of the society. An eminent figure amongst the masses, Dr. Nand Kishore Garg with his humanitarian attribute has always contributed selflessly not only in building the Maharaja Agrasen Technical Education Society but also contributing a great deal in bringing together various driving forces who move the Nation for a brighter tomorrow.
Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies (MAIMS) Started under the canopy of Maharaja Agrasen Technical Education Society (MATES) in 2003.
MAIMS began its journey with Management education leading to B.B.A. and MBA degrees and added Commerce and Economics on its way forward. Eventually, it diversified in Journalism and Law by starting Bachelor of Arts in Journalism & Mass Communication, BA (JMC) and five years integrated Bachelor of Laws course as B.A.LL.B and B.B.A.LL.B.
Many prominent Personalities have visited MAIMS as Guests at different occasions. Former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpai, Former Minister of Finance Shri Arun Jaitley, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, Nitin Gadkari, Former Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Shri Jagmohan are some of the prominent names.
