Counseling cell
Counseling is a process that aims to facilitate students' personal well-being through the support and guidance of trained counselors for a healthy mind and body. With this intention to address and help resolve emotional and psychological issues of the student community of MAIMS, the College has initiated the “Counselling Cell” in the college premises with the help of a trained team of faculty members as Counselors. The Counselling Cell encourages the students to understand themselves and the issues that trouble them and guides them to resolve their problems. These problems can be personal, emotional, social, family, peer, academic, sexual, etc. The cell offers free counseling to students on an individual or group basis.To help them with academic goals, positive attitude towards building mentor- mentee relationships, social and personality development, career goals, enhancing listening skills, empathy, and interpersonal skills for healthy relationships and lifestyle. The Counselling Cell will function by respecting the student’s privacy so that they are free to explore their concerns, feelings, and behaviors.
Key functions of the Counselling Cell include:
- To counsel students through individual counseling sessions based on their needs.
- To enhance the self-esteem of weaker /slow learners / physically challenged students.
- To help the students to overcome examination stress, anxiety, or phobia.
- To recommend and refer to a Clinical Psychologist or Professional Psychiatrist in case of any advance support is required considering the severity.
- To inform the parents about the psychological misbehavior of the student.
- To help the students solve their personal, educational, social, and psychological problems.
- To assist the student in planning for educational and vocational choices.
- To help the students know themselves regarding their interests, abilities, aptitude, passion, and opportunities.
- To create awareness, prepare, and motivate to make success stories and decipher plans to overcome life challenges.
- To establish a feeling of mutual understanding between student and teacher.
