Overview
The Dronacharya Alumni Mentoring Board at Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies is to connect our college’s alumni with current students, in order to facilitate a mentoring is a strategic initiative designed to bridge the gap between current students and successful alumni from various fields and industries. By providing a platform for mentorship, networking, and career guidance, this board aims to create lasting connections, inspire the next generation of leaders, and promote professional and personal growth among students and alumni alike. The Board serves as an invaluable resource for both students seeking career advice, life skills, and guidance, as well as alumni who wish to give back to their alma mater by mentoring and supporting students. The initiative focuses on leveraging the experiences and wisdom of seasoned professionals to enrich the educational and professional journeys of students.
Mission of the Board
The mission of the Alumni Mentoring Board is to cultivate meaningful, long-lasting relationships between students and alumni, fostering a culture of mentorship, growth, and shared knowledge. The board aims to create an inclusive, supportive network that encourages career development, personal growth, and the sharing of valuable insights to empower the future leaders of tomorrow.
Objectives of the Board:
- Provide students with access to a network of experienced alumni who can offer professional advice, career insights, and personal development tips.
- Help students navigate the transition from academia to the workforce by connecting them with mentors who share industry-specific knowledge.
- Foster opportunities for students to build professional networks that can help them succeed in their chosen fields.
- Encourage alumni to connect with one another, share ideas, and collaborate on initiatives that benefit both students and alumni.
- Assist students in building essential skills such as communication, leadership, and problem-solving through mentorship.
- Provide opportunities for students to participate in career workshops, guest speaker sessions, and industry-specific events.
- Build a supportive and engaged alumni network that will continue to benefit the school, students, and graduates long after they have left the academic environment.
- Ensure that the relationship between students and alumni is sustainable and impactful, extending far beyond graduation.
Structure of the Dronacharya Mentoring Board
The Alumni Mentoring Board will consist of three main groups: Alumni Mentors, Current Students, and Board Administrators.
- Alumni Mentors:
- Experienced professionals and graduates who are willing to share their expertise, advice, and insights with students.
- Alumni mentors are encouraged to meet with students on a regular basis, either virtually or in person, to discuss career paths, offer feedback on resumes and job interviews, and guide students on professional growth.
- Current Students:
- Students in need of guidance, inspiration, and professional support. Students will have the opportunity to select mentors based on their interests, career goals, or industry aspirations.
- Students will actively participate in mentoring relationships, seeking advice on navigating their academic and career journeys.
- Board Administrators:
- The Alumni association of MAIMS will facilitate the recruitment, matching, and support of mentors and mentees.
- The association will supervise the operation of the program, coordinate events, and ensure that the mentoring relationships are effective and impactful.
Mentoring Process:
- Alumni Registration and Profile Creation:
- Alumni who wish to become mentors will complete a registration form, outlining their areas of expertise, professional background, and willingness to mentor students.
- Mentors will have the opportunity to create profiles that include their experience, industry
knowledge, and mentoring preferences.
- Student Registration and Matching:
- Students will register for the program and share their career aspirations, areas of interest, and goals.
- Board administrators will match students with appropriate alumni mentors based on common interests, goals, and professional fields.
- Board will create a mentoring board at the campus so that mentees can connect with the alumni for any guidance.
- Mentorship Guidelines:
- The mentoring relationship will be structured with clear expectations, such as the frequency of meetings, preferred communication methods, and goals for the mentoring sessions.
- Mentors will offer advice on job search strategies, interview preparation, networking opportunities, and overcoming industry-specific challenges.
- Mentors will interact and communicate with the mentees in online or offline mode through different activities like workshop, Guest lectures and seminars.
Alumni Mentoring Board Events
- Mentor-Mentee Meetups: Casual gatherings where students and alumni can meet, share experiences, and engage in meaningful conversations.
- Guest Speaker Sessions: Industry experts or successful alumni are invited to speak on topics such as career development, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
- Workshops and Webinars: Focused sessions on skill-building, networking strategies, resume writing, and interview preparation.
- Annual Alumni Networking Event: A large-scale event where alumni and students can connect, collaborate, and learn from each other.
